Trick-or-Treating is always more fun with friends! To make the Pebbles corrugated letters standout, I used a marker and outlined the edges.  The pattern paper was edged in black ink and I rounded the corners of a Jillibean Soup flag tag to create an embellishment and add a pop of color. October Kit Reveal - SADT Amy Perkins

Hi!  Amy here... with my October Kit Reveal.

I am loving the cooler weather just as much as I love this kit!  (... and that the pumpkin spiced latte has returned to Starbucks!)

Batman & Jessie:
I LOVE Halloween trick-or-treating just as much as my kids do!!! My son has been Batman for the last 3 year and just the other day he said to me... "I think I need a new costume this year!" I'm sure they will change their minds 10 times between now and then, but I can't wait to see them running from house to house... and I can't wait to steel a few butterfingers from their bags too!  This layout is one of my go to layouts and can be completed in under 30 min.

'P' is for Pumpkin:
Family fun at our house is carving pumpkins!  I was inspired again by a scrap piece of paper... this time it was the black chevron paper cut and spaced to create an arrow... which seems to be a trend in scrapbooking right now.

Pumpkin Carving:
After creating 3 layouts (I have saving one more to show you for later!!)... I still had plenty more from this kit to keep on creating!  I did pull from my scrap-stash on this one (kraft cardstock, tickers, washi tape, and bling)... but I love knowing I am using product from my scrap-stash too!  This is a really a simple and sweet layout, and a great way to use up scrap paper and extra embellishments.

Thanks for checking them out! ~Amy

Amy Perkins - September Kit Reveal

HI!  Amy here with my September Kit reveals!

Mandie last month said something in her blog post that got me thinking... "do I over-think, over-complicate, my layouts".. is that why it takes me so long to complete just one layouts (2 hrs+ or more sometime!).  Answer:  I think I do!  So I put Mandie's words to the test and really tried hard to keep things simple this month... and WOW it worked... I was quite surprised with the results.  I hope you enjoy too!

Let's Build Something Together - Sept Main Kit

It's not often that my Parent get to visit since they live on the East coast and us on the West.  So, spending time together is cherished.  I've been scrapbooking single layouts more often these days, but couldn't crop out (or down) these photos, so it was fun to create this double layout.

I created the sun by gluing snippets of ribbon onto a circle base and then used a second circle on top - kinda like a ribbon sandwich.  The clouds are hand drawn and cut out... but several Cricut cartridges also have clouds too.

Wood veneer shapes are a hot trend right now... they are so fun (tweet tweet)!

Five Star Fun - September Add On Kit

What kid doesn't love a day at the water park? ... this was a five star fun day.  Keeping with the idea of making the layout simple, this layout really is two photos cropped to fit 4x6 area and a second 4x6 photo on top of 3 strips of paper.

The layered triangles were inspired from scraps (from the pieces cut out from the two bottom strips of paper).. I used the mini Tim Holtz stapler to adhere the twine.. It's probably my most favorite new tool bought in the last year!

Untitled - September Add On Kit

So one of my biggest challenges when scrapbooking is not just jounaling (yes... you will often find that some (all) of my layouts have little to no jounaling... I'll explain in another post! ;-))... but choosing the right title.  Randi is often my go-to gal, but this time I though I would ask you for some help.  I've considered "sing out loud" or "I hope you dance"... any other ideas?  Let me know by posting a comment right here on our blog or hop on over to our Facebook page.

More reveals to come from the rest of the SADT!

Amy Perkins Reveal

Hi... Amy here with the latest reveals using the August Kits...

August kit was so much fun to work with...  I couldn't wait to use the fun colorful pattern paper, and the Basic Grey PB&J die-cut paper and canvas flowers were a big inspiration.

Main Kit: Country Picnic

I loved working with the chevron paper, and cut along the pattern to add more texture to this layout... using the chevron paper made me smile too!  Tabs are making a come-back and so I cut one of the canvas flowers in half to make a unique scalloped tab.

There is a produce stand not far from where we live, and during the fall months they create a huge straw pyramid with a pipe for this kids to slide down.  My kids look forward to playing here every year!  This layout was inspired by a scrap of paper (the arrow like paper at the bottom which was a scrap from the previous layout) and it all came together in less than 30 minutes (I know... FAST right?).  I started to layer some of the already cut pieces of pattern paper, then  two photos ... and just let myself have a bit of fun adding a bunch of embellishments.

I don't typically print pictures in B&W... and need to remember to do this more often, because I love the look!  I took Mandie's trends class at the last crop (which was SO FUN!) and applied the technique she taught for making a chevron pattern to this layout.  I loved that this August kit was so diverse that even the soft colors in the pattern paper and lace could create a baby layout too!

Add-On Kits: Rustic Country & More Stickers - Simple Stories

For this layout I combined the add-on kit and the more stickers - simple stores to create a sporty golf  themed layout.  I love the tiny type alphas that allow for longer and more descriptive titles.

SADT - Amy Perkins Reveal

I'm so excited to share with you my reveals using product from the July kits!  Here they are... enjoy!

'Aw Shucks' - (Main Kit - New Adventure)

I will say... that this layout turned out better than the corn!  We may have made a few mistake while blanching the corn, but this July kit was no disappointment.  It's filled with a variety of product from many different companies making it inspiring and fun to use.

Station 71 - (Main Kit - New Adventure)

Scrapbooking Has No Age Limit - (Add-on Embark)

I couldn't wait to use a zipper as an embellishment (a first for me), and had fun cutting the coin rolls into the popular pendant shape to create a unique embellishment.  In this layout, I was celebrating my birthday at a Scrap Again all day crop... and here I am scrapbooking that same event using product from the launch of Scrap Again's kit club ... it's kinda like a double celebration- YEAH!

Subject Park 101 - (Add-on Going Places)

Between fun paper clips, Elle's studio tags, twine, and crystal candy dots... I'm not sure what was more fun; creating this layout or the kindergarten school day at the park

You Make Me Smile- (Embark Kit)

I loved the fun colors and the number pattern paper in the embark kit.  The page really came together when I started to layer all the fun and flirty embellishments.  My new "I-can't-have-enough-of" scrappy product is WASHI TAPE... any color, any patter... I want it all!!!  I loved this washi tape because it combines lots of colors and patterns, and I only used snippets of the washi tape... so I can't wait to use the rest of it in future layouts!!  I used the DIY Thickers included in the kit to make my title "SMILE"  and created a step by step "how to"... that I can't wait to share with you!... coming soon!!

Memories Of My Childhood - (Add-on Journey & Going Places)

With extra pattern paper, cardstock, and embellishments left over, mix matching and creating more layouts is a breeze!

Smash Book - Update (Amy)

There is definitely a trend among the scrapbook community to do interesting projects like project life, scrapbook 365, gratitude books, mini books, December dailies... and the such.  I've chosen to just do Smash Book this year, and I have to say I'm really excited about it.

It took me a while to decide if I was even going to do one... because I already felt like I'm so far behind in my traditional scrapbook... who needed another project to make me further behind, RIGHT?  And then, after a little nudge from Randi and her explanation about the concept of the book, and watching the video...  it all made sense to me!  I had figured out how I was going to use it!!

There are so many things my kids say that I wish I had written down, but never had a place to.  There are smaller events like going to the movies that don't make it into the scrapbook, that need not be forgotten.  There are facts of life, (like the laundry, that I wish would go away but never does), that make our home our home, or our family our family.  That is what this Smash Book is going to be for me!

I have snippets of time to scrapbook during the week, 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there, but usually never enough to finish an entire layout.  So the concept of  Smash Book fits perfect into my daily life.  It also occurred to me that since I will be able to simply smash some of the smaller events happening around me in the book, I wouldn't feel the need to have to scrapbook so many of them too.  So maybe, just maybe, I can get caught up one day... I girl can dream right!?

So... here's to the start of my Smash Book project, getting life captured more simply, and getting to share it with you!

My Smash Book: Amy Perkins

Problem Solved! I've decided to make my own journaling cards to write on and use in my Smash Book.  So any journaling worries I had (i.e. misspelling, crooked writing, not fitting it all in) are now gone!

Stay tuned until next time!
